BEAUFORT, SC (Nov. 18, 2016) – A family court judge has granted the Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone’s motion to try murder suspect

John Duncan as an adult.

Duncan, 17, of Hilton Head Island, is accused of shooting and killing 17-year-old Dominique Williams at Coligny Beach Park on July 19, 2015. Family Court Judge Pete Fuge granted the motion in an Order filed late Wednesday. Judge Fuge’s Order is attached.

The General Sessions court process is already underway. Duncan is being transferred to the Beaufort County Detention Center where he will remain until he has a bond hearing. A Circuit Court Judge must set Duncan’s bond because he is charged with murder. The date of this hearing has not been set.

The Solicitor will present the case to the Beaufort County Grand Jury within the next 90 days.

The charge is merely an accusation. The Defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
